Online Library of Accessible Textbooks Launched

The University of Edinburgh, in conjunction with The Seeing Ear, have launched the UK’s first online library of text books in alternative formats for visually impaired students.

The service provides teachers and visually impaired students with access to a library of books in alternative formats. Books can be downloaded for free and are available either as PDF or Word Documents.

Accessible copies of the books are uploaded by schools, which in return can access existing titles. There are currently around 100 titles available, but this will increase as more schools join the scheme, and upload content.
