How to switch off Transparency in Windows 7

Windows Transparency does look very pretty, but if your using magnification software, the blurred image of the window underneath your current window can be distracting.  Here’s how to turn off this ‘feature’.

Switching transparency off

  1. In the start menu search box type “windows colors” (notice the American spelling)
  2. The “window color and appearance” page will be displayed.
  3. Press ALT+N, to deselect enable transparency
  4. Press ENTER, to save your settings
